"Every time I see you, my heart feels at peace…" The inspiration for Let Me Out draws from David Tao’s song "Butterfly," alongside a reflection beneath the starry sky of Sha Xī: a longing to be quietly alone, yet also a desire to step out and embrace the freedom of nature.
Let Me Out is build like a coocon. Labdanum, fermented wool, and an iris absolute rich in 85% iris terebine form a "Leave Me Alone" of quiet enclosure. The wool brings something rare to this opening: a natural animalic note, vivid and almost fermented in character, giving the cocoon its living, breathing quality.
Then, a gap opened in the cocoon with clove bud, perilla, and turmeric leaf. Perilla is the quiet star here — a herb celebrated in Asian culinary tradition yet rarely explored in perfumery, zesty and moist, somewhere between cumin and green peach. It's this note that lets the first breath of outside air in.
Finally, a touch of Bulgarian white rose — Bulgaria's most prized rose variety, lighter and less sweet than Damask rose, with a fresh, almost pear-like nuance — brings coherence and light to the whole composition.
The result places you inside the perspective of a butterfly just emerged from its cocoon: wings still unsteady, not yet able to fly, yet its antennae already sensing the boundless grassland beyond, the sky, the earth. Unseen, but felt.
If Talking To The Moon symbolizes confronting death, then Let Me Out represents the hope for rebirth. "I can live again, I can regain my courage; your love is like oxygen, helping me breathe and giving me life once more."
