A mat and sweet wood, warmed by the gentle caress of trade winds. Sucre d'Ébène is Pierre Guillaume's ode to sugar in its most sophisticated form. Not the sharp sweetness of confectionery, but a smoky, musky infusion that unfolds like brown sugar melting slowly over dark, sun-warmed wood. It is one of those rare gourmands that never tips into candied territory; instead, it stays elegant, resinous, and unmistakably grown-up.

The opening is where Sucre d'Ébène reveals its most curious trait: witch hazel. Witch hazel is a flowering shrub (Hamamelis), and in perfumery, its delicate scent is distilled from the plant's twigs and leaves rather than the flower itself. Rather than reading as floral or green, this rare note takes on a fizzy, almost grapey character. Some describe it as dark velvet grapes, others as a boozy, syrupy fruit note. It gives the composition a sparkling, slightly medicinal lift that sets it apart from anything conventional.

As it settles, orange blossom threads through with a soft, sun-drenched sweetness, while brown sugar and benzoin take the lead — caramelised without ever burning, resinous without ever feeling heavy. Vanilla rounds out the base, wrapping the whole composition in a warm, musky embrace. The result is an intimate fragrance with a quiet sweetness that lingers closely to the skin.

Sucre d'Ébène is unisex by nature! sweet enough to seduce, dry and woody enough to ground it. It performs best as an intimate, close-wearing scent, making it ideal for cooler months, quiet evenings, or anyone who prefers their fragrance discovered rather than announced.

Gourmand

Gourmand fragrances are sweet, tempting and mouthwatering. Just as much we enjoy eating sweets, perfumers are inspired by the addictive character of the almost edible notes. Gourmand is the collective name for sweet delicacies. Think of chocolate, hazelnut, vanilla, coffee, caramelized sugar, bubblegum or licorice, yummmmm.

Pierre Guillaume

When he was just 25 years old, Pierre Guillaume launched his first perfume called Cozé. Chandler Burr, renowned and respected perfume critic, described this fragrance as 'the coolest of new European fragrances from a young French chemist'. That was the beginning of his career and his own perfume house: Parfumerie Générale, which is now called Pierre Guillaume. Pierre Guillaume uses innovative processes to create fragrances. You can recognize his personal style in his perfumes, with high-quality scents that remain perceptible on the skin for a long time without overpowering.
