Since 2009, we've immersed ourselves in the world of luxury perfumes. That passion grew into our webshop in 2011, allowing us to bring the finest niche perfumes from renowned perfume houses worldwide to everyone — not just visitors to our boutique in Amsterdam, but anyone with an eye for originality.
To us, a luxury perfume is a small work of art, hand-composed by a master perfumer who refuses to settle for safe, mass-appealing scent notes. We genuinely believe that same originality runs through every one of our luxury products — from the silky extraits of Maison Francis Kurkdjian to the raw, untamed power of Orto Parisi's extrait de parfums.
Eau de toilette, eau de parfum or extrait de parfum: What's the difference?
The distinction between these three comes down to the percentage of perfume oil. The higher that percentage, the more intense and long-lasting the scent.
- Eau de Toilette — 6 to 12% oil, lasts 3 to 6 hours
- Eau de Parfum — 10 to 20% oil, lasts throughout the day
- Extrait de Parfum — 20 to 35% oil, noticeable for hours, sometimes 24+
For true connoisseurs of long-lasting scent, an extrait is the natural choice. Some houses focus entirely on this more intense concentration, such as Francesca Bianchi, Orto Parisi, Nasomatto and Annindriya. Other brands offer a fragrance across multiple concentrations, like Marc-Antoine Barrois with Ganymède in both extrait and eau de parfum, or Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Amyris Homme as an eau de toilette and extrait de parfum. And some houses blend both worlds: Parfum d'Empire carries a beautiful line of eau de parfums, alongside Ruade extrait de parfum as the ultimate luxury scent within their collection.
Building your own scent wardrobe
Most perfume lovers don't stop at one bottle. Just like a wardrobe of clothes, every occasion calls for a different scent. A busy workday might call for something fresh, green, or citrus-driven (try Wasabi Klub by Room 1015, Paradisi by Scotland's Jorum Studio, Vetyver Messager by Parfums MDCI, or Silver Ceremony by BDK Parfums), while an intimate dinner suits something warmer and woodier — think Madagascar Le Baume Vanille by Parfum d'Empire or Poppy Riot by Room 1015. For a gala or a wedding, the sillage can be bolder still, like Strangelove NYC. This is how a collection gradually grows into a true scent wardrobe: a signature scent for every moment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose the best perfume for myself?
Always test a scent on your own skin, never just on a test strip, and give it a few hours to develop. Only then does its true character — shaped by your unique skin chemistry — come through.
What's the difference between eau de parfum and extrait?
It mainly comes down to perfume oil concentration. An extrait can contain up to three times more oil than an eau de parfum, which means it lasts considerably longer, often with just a single spray.
Does a luxury perfume last longer?
Yes. Thanks to a higher percentage of natural fragrance ingredients, niche perfumes typically last noticeably longer than mainstream fragrances.
Is a luxury perfume a good gift?
Absolutely. Every online order is wrapped free of charge and with care, including a sample to help discover new scents.
How long does one bottle last?
With two to three sprays a day, a 50ml bottle typically lasts six to twelve months. An extrait, used more sparingly, often lasts even longer.
Does Perfume Lounge ship luxury perfumes outside the Netherlands?
